Based just North of Cardiff, GE Aviation Wales is one of the largest aircraft engine maintenance facilities in the world. Employing a highly skilled workforce of over 1,200 people, the facility specialises in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of commercial aircraft engines. The site specialises in four engine types, including the GE90, the worlds most powerful aircraft engine, the GP7200, the engine that powers the new Airbus A380, the Rolls-Royce RB211 and the complete range of CFM56 engines, the worlds most popular aircraft engine. The business has capabilities to handle more than 450 engines a year and works with over 90 customers worldwide, including Emirates, easyJet and British Airways.

To ensure business success and remain competitive in a global market, GE Aviation Wales has a dedicated Lean Six Sigma team, who are responsible for introducing lean processes across all functions within the business.

At GE Aviation Wales we understand that adopting a lean approach is vital to ensure the business meets customers’ needs, working to specific engine turnaround times and specific costs on a daily basis.

The Half Day IWI visit will introduce you to GE Aviation Wales, its processes and its approach to lean. You will have the opportunity to be taken on a full site tour, followed by a visit to our Test Cell, one of GE’s largest and most prestigious testing facilities. Over lunch, there will be an opportunity to ask the lean six sigma leader, and the team, any questions regarding the business, its processes and what you have seen during the morning.
